Conair ExtremeSteam Professional Upright
The Conair ExtremeSteam is our favorite fabric steamer. It is rated highly on Amazon and other platforms, and we know why. It produces great results on fabrics and helps you be clean and wrinkle-free. Not only will this steamer save you tons of money on dry cleaning, but it will also save you heaps of time.
Dual heat technology with extreme steam
As this steamer is a full-size one produced by Conair, it has been developed with dual heating technology. First, the water is heated at the base of the steamer, similar to most other products on the market, however after the initial heating steam is then reheated again at the nozzle to then release even hotter steam into the fabrics. Conair does this to create smaller water molecules, with this it can penetrate deeper into the fabrics, allowing it to quickly release wrinkles, giving you the professional results you always wanted. With all this fancy new technology, you would think that the Conair ExtremeSteam may be damaging, or harsh on fabrics, but opposite to thoughts you may have, it actually is even more gentle on fabrics, allowing you to use this on everything, from delicate curtains to tailored suits.
Fresh and de-wrinkle your fabrics
The ExtremeSteam will freshen up your clothing, whilst having all the amazing features to smooth out wrinkles and provide fast, yet effective steaming to the fabric of your choice. With the advanced features in the ExtremeSteam, it can heat up high-velocity steam in just under a minute and a half, making it extremely versatile, due to the speed at which it can be utilized.
The design of the ExtremeSteam has been made to protect the end user while making it very easy to operate and target wrinkles in clothing. The t-nozzle has been made to be a cool touch, so you won’t end up burning your fingers. The on/off switch is very easy to access should anything go wrong, or should you need to quickly begin steaming. The hose is 5-foot long, allowing you to reach all the places that you struggle with other steamers. The large capacity water tank makes it easy to fill and does not require cleaning, or regular refilling due to the sheer amount of liters it can hold.
My impression when I took this thing out of the box can only be described as WOW. Being used to mainly handheld fabric steamers, it really shocked me when I unboxed this thing. Its 5-foot hose is more than enough to reach even the most difficult places, yet it maintains a very sleek design.
The power of this fabric steamer is immense. 1800 watts of power allows me to start fabric steaming in just 100 seconds. I was able to steam my clothes and be out the door in minutes, something that would take me hours with other fabric steamers.
With the ExtremeSteam, I really noticed the new dual heat technology. Comparing it with other products on the market, it penetrates deeper into the fabric and gives much hotter steam. This, in turn, made my clothing have much fewer wrinkles and also helped them smell cleaner, as I’m sure the hotter steam has some effect on the bacteria growth in my clothes.
The Conair ExtremeSteam is supported with 12 months warranty making it a very safe purchase on this clothes steamer.
- Dual heat technology
- Heats up in just under 100 seconds
- 5-foot hose to reach anywhere
- Eliminates dust-bugs and bed-bites
- Uses concentrated steam to produce better results

- Some customers have said that occasionally the nozzle can spit out water, however, most do not have this issue. Usually cleaning the hose out will fix this issue.
PurSteam PS-910 Heavy Duty
The PurSteam PS-910 follows behind the Conair ExtremeSteam. Its features are very similar, and it excels in some parts where the ExtremeSteam lacks. Although it doesn’t have the dual heat technology, it does heat up much quicker in just 45-60 seconds. In all our fabric steamer reviews, we found the PS-910 to be the easiest to operate and use and the instructional manual thoroughly explained everything we needed to know.
Extremely large capacity
The PS-910 boasts a 61oz tank, which can be filled and heated in just under 60 seconds. With such a large capacity and quick heating time, you’d think that problems would be frequent, however, PurSteam has developed this fabric steamer to give powerful steam clean to your fabrics, whilst still maintaining a high-quality result and finish.
Strong durable build
PurSteam has developed this fabric steamer to be extremely strong and durable. It is made from cast aluminum giving them confidence that the heating element and overall build will last a long time. Often times with fabric steamers you may get a couple of years of use from them before you start experiencing problems, but with the PS-910 you can be confident that it will last you for many years to come.
Perfect temperature for cleaning and de-wrinkling
The PS-910 heats up to 248 °F giving you a deep steaming into your fabrics, killing 99.9% of germs whilst also de-wrinkling your fabrics and making them look perfectly ironed. PurSteam have made this steamer to be able to handle delicate fabrics or heavy duty. Nowadays we are so confused on why people would opt for an iron, when with this amazing steamer it kills bacteria, freshens up your clothing and removes all wrinkles. It’s simply amazing.
Upon removing the packaging to the PS-910, I was surprised by the size. Similar to the ExtremeSteam by Conair, it has a long hose providing a good range to the steamer. In a sleek white design, mixed with natural aluminum colors the steamer is pleasing to look at. It looks very modern and professional, and although it is aesthetically pleasing, it is the perfect size to tuck away into a closet.
When turning on the Pursteam PS-910, I was again surprised by the speed in which the heating element was able to heat the water into steam. With typical steamers taking at-least a few minutes to produce steam, the PS-910 was able to heat the 61 oz tank in just under a minute. I was truly amazed at how quickly it was able to create the steam, and I was able to have my fabrics steamed in just a few minutes. The temperature was perfect and was able to kill most of the bacteria produced during the period of drying the clothes after washing. It removed all the wrinkles created and made my clothes feel, smell and look brand new.
A very nice feature about the PS-910 is the garment hanger that is included. The garment hanger allows me to hang my fabrics and steam them while hanging. Although stability was a slight issue with this, it still is a nice feature to have and makes steaming certain fabrics slightly easier.
- Huge capacity tank – 61 oz
- 248 °F heated steam
- Versatile steaming on both delicate and heavy fabrics
- Faster wrinkle release than ironing
- Creates fresh smelling clothes after use
- Kills up to 99.9% of germs
- 5 year warranty – exceptionally long
- Comes with an ironing board cover
- Includes a fabric brush and garment hanger
- Although we did not experience any issues with the PS-910 some people have said that the steamer is unable to handle heavier fabrics and is only good for lighter and more delicate pieces
The Steamfast SF-407 is slightly cheaper than our other models reviewed here on FabricSteamerReviews.com. Steamfast also is the most popular and is known best for being a great fabric steamer. It supplies great power, durability and streaming features at a great price.
High power and fast heating capabilities
The SF-407 comes with 1500 watts of power, allowing you to heat in just under a minute. Similar to other fabric steamers, you can be up and running in just a few minutes and have your clothes steamed very quickly. With such a high powered steamer, you may be worried about burning – or other damages that may happen to the user or your fabrics, but we have tested the SF-407 extensively and it has only performed well when using it on a large range of fabrics.
Very gentle on fabrics
Often times with fabric steamers we worry about damaging or ruining our precious linens, curtains, clothing or upholstery. With the SF-407 you can be certain that it will be very gentle on your fabrics, whilst cleaning and removing wrinkles. I have in the past used some high powered steamers, only to be disappointed when they resulted in more damage than positive results, but at FabricSteamerReviews we refuse to recommend or assist you in purchasing anything that can have a negative impact, therefore do not worry when going for the SF-407.
Efficient refilling and startup
Steamfast has created the SF-407 to be extremely efficient. You can remove the water tank and fill directly from the tap. Unlike most other steamers, which require you to manually pour cups into the extremely large tank, taking up time and requiring annoying amounts of physical labor. The SF-407 brings such speed and convenience to you, saving you time in the long run and making you a happy customer.
My impression when taking the SF-407 out of the box was very similar to the two previous reviews I have done here on FabricSteamerReviews. The long nozzle is designed with a clean sleek aluminum finish, a 40 oz tank accompanies the long pole.
The power is fantastic. 1500 watts is some serious heating power, and the steamer can be fired up very quickly. The time frames between all the steamers vary between just 45 seconds to a few minutes, and the SF-407 is no different.
I had noticed that the SF-407 was much gentler compared with the other two steamers. Although I heard some customers say that the steam might actually be too hot and too powerful, when it came to my personal use of the steamer, I found the steam temperature to be perfect when set on a medium setting.
The cleaning of my fabrics was perfectly done by the Steamfast fabric steamer, I was very satisfied with how easy starting up the SF-407 was, and how easy it was to get all my fabrics steamed in a short period of time.
My overall impression of the SF-407 is that it’s a great fabric steamer. It might not qualify as the top fabric steamer, but it’s definitely up there in my top 3. I would have to say that the Conair and Pursteam might surpass it, however, it totally varies on what the customer is looking for.
- Long telescopic pole for reaching all areas
- Fabric brush included
- A clothes hanger is also included
- Removable water tank gives easy and fast refilling
- Gentle on fabrics
- Gives fabrics a clean and fresh smell
- Kills bacteria
- Provides 45 minutes of continuous steam on high setting
- 100% chemical free
- Some customers complained that the steam might actually be too hot, and can cause burns, therefore we recommend being cautious when using and keep hands away from the steam.
The wonders of the best clothes steamers
Whenever a person goes out into the world, he would always want to make a good impression. As for a person’s clothes, one thing you, as the wearer of such clothes, have to consider aside from the design and quality of your clothes, is whether it has been properly ironed to look sharp, crisp, and decent. After all, you won’t want to look crumpled in w world where everyone strives for clean lines and flawless fabrics. But perhaps you have experienced, and maybe more than once, problems when the flat iron just won’t do the job for your clothes. Aside from imposing heavy charges on one’s electric bill, the flat iron, when used with minimal diligence, may burn or create holes thru people’s clothes. As an alternative, maybe try the fabric steamer.
How a Fabric Steamer Works
The travel steamer unlike the flat iron, uses steam rather than heat, in order to press clothes. Unlike a flat iron which literally flats fibers with heat, a fabric steamer relaxes the fibers in order to get rid of the wrinkles. These fabric steamers have been used and manufactured for more than a century, but the compact ones, as we know them today, are pretty much modern inventions. The idea of using steam to create the sharp, wrinkle-free look for clothing began when some people used the steam from the teakettle to remove wrinkles from their hats.
Soon enough the handheld garment steamer was invented and people no longer had to resort to the teakettle. The modern ones come in three sizes, from the commercial floor models which are used at commercial dry cleaners and larger, manufacturing plants, to the mid-sized fabric steamers normally used in homes or even small establishments such as tailors or seamstresses, to the newest model, which is the jiffy garment steamer, 2000 jiffy.
Why a Garment Steamer?
But why choose the fabric steamer instead of the more traditional flat iron for creating that clean, crisp look for your clothes? For one, a fabric steamer is actually easy to use. What a person does is simply hang the garment, pour water into the part called the reservoir, then plug the device in. After you’ve waited for a few minutes to get the water to boil, you then proceed to go over the piece of clothing with soft and sweeping motions. The fabric steamer is also gentler on the clothes, as opposed to applying heat from the iron which could potentially scorch clothing, and it actually works faster than the flat iron. Also, the fabric steamer can be used on certain fabrics where the usual flat iron would not work.
Among these fabrics are velvets, velveteens, and even those very delicate materials like satin. The usual flat iron would typically crush the naps for the velvet materials, while satin may easily scorch. With the fabric steamer, these do not have to be worried, given how gentle it works on fabrics. It is also very handy. You can easily use the fabric steamer to freshen those drapes, create a better look for furniture upholstery, and so on. The mini-fabric steamer can even be carried around with you as you travel.
In order to achieve that clean, crisp and wrinkle-free look, try the fabric steamer. And while your clothes are free from those unwanted lines and wrinkles, you definitely won’t look flat.
Benefits of using a handheld steamer?
Fabric Steamers are known for their ability to iron out clothes without actually having to use damaging heat on them. Clothes irons directly apply heat on to the fabric and this results in the fabric deteriorating with every single ironing. On the contrary, Clothes steamers do not apply heat directly, but rather send a combination of heat, moisture and light pressure to relax the fibers within garments and remove wrinkles from them. Using Clothes Steamers helps in preserving the texture and firmness of your clothes for a long time. They’re also very portable, handy and convenient to use.
How Do Fabric Steamers work?
Regular fabric irons work by directly applying heat onto the surface of the garment. However, fabric steamers use a different method. All clothes steamers have a water reservoir or source from which water is drawn. It is then converted into steam in a chamber. This steam then comes out at high pressure from nozzles in the front. All you need to do is wave the fabric steamer all across the garment in question and watch it remove wrinkles effortlessly. Wrinkles are formed due to stretching or contraction of fibers in fabric and clothes steamers work by evening out the fabric by using steam.
